Arthur Gannon Obituary

Arthur Gannon, 88, passed away quietly at Loving Ones Adult Family Home on August 19th.

Born in Inman, Nebraska on May 30, 1930 to Roy and Grace on the family farm. He attended a one room country school and then graduated in 1947 from Inman High School.

He then came to Kent to work for his brother in a small grocery on the Kent-Kangley Rd.

He was inducted into the Army in 1951 and finished his tour of duty on Vashon Island where he met Kay. They married in 1953, lived in Riverton Hts. and then transferred with Safeway in ’55 to Bellingham with Kay and one year old, Steven. Judy was born there in 1956.

Leaving Safeway, he drove truck in the Seattle area for Associated Grocers from 1961 until he retired in 1992.

Art and Kay travelled extensively before and after retirement; enjoying many cruises, road and overseas trips. Art enjoyed playing bridge, pinochle, and cribbage with friends.

Predeceased by his parents, brother Wayne, sister Doris, and granddaughter Jennifer. Survived by wife, Kay, Steven (Ursula), Judy Wilcox (Dave), grandsons Joel (Sara) and Paul. Also, great-grandchildren Elizabeth and twins, Wyatt and Cooper.

He will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of his life will follow at Edline-Yahn & Covington Funeral Chapel, 27221 156th Ave SE, Kent. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fred Hutch Cancer.
