Cherian Dominic Munjanattu

July 13, 1958 ~ October 21, 2018 (age 60)

Mr. Cherian Munjanattu (fondly called Cheriachan), son of Mr. M.D. Dominic Munjanattu Sanchayathil and Mrs. Mariamma Kizhakkethalakkal, was born on July 13th, 1958 in Kanjirappally, Kerala. He has three brothers and three sisters. He passed away at Tacoma General Hospital on October 21, 2018. He received his formal education through AKJM English Medium School, Kanjirappally. He completed his undergraduate studies at St. Thomas College, Palai and received his masters at University of Kerala. He began his career as a commercial officer in Indian Railways at Kozhikkode and remained in service for 6 years.

Cheriachan married Valsamma Vengalil, daughter of Mr. Joseph Thomas Vengalil and Mrs. Aleyamma Joseph, on August 23rd, 1987. Shortly after their wedding, he moved to Seattle, Washington. He has two daughters, Michelle and Megan, and one son, Dominic. He served as a financial service specialist and social worker at the Department of Social and Health Services for 28 years.

Cheriachan was the embodiment of a simple man, wonderful husband and loving father – a caring and gentle person who always had a beautiful smile that emanated from within. He always put his family before his needs. He held on to his green card as he dreamed of moving back to India someday after retirement. He enjoyed listening to classical Malayalam music, gardening, and cooking, and was especially known for his South Indian deep-fried delicacy “Parippu vada”.  His family and friends will miss him greatly – but he will always remain in our hearts and fondest memories.

The afflicted and needy are seeking water, but there is none, and their tongue is parched with thirst; I, the Lord, will answer them Myself, as the God of Israel I will not forsake them. I will open rivers on the bare heights and springs in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water and the dry land fountains of water. I will put the cedar in the wilderness, the acacia and the myrtle and the olive tree; I will place the juniper in the desert together with the box tree and the cypress, that they may see and recognize, and consider and gain insight as well, that the hand of the Lord has done this, and the Holy One of Israel has created it. - Isaiah 41:17-20

May his soul rest in peace
