Richard was born in Seattle, Washington; the son of James C. and Mabel Olsen Money. He graduated from Franklin High School as a member of the Class of 1950 serving as senior class vice president. Richard married his loving wife Gloria with whom he remained married for 64 years. He attended the University of Washington and was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. He joined the US Army and served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in January of 1956. After the war, he returned to the University of Washington to finish his degree graduating in 1958. Richard moved to Medina in 1962 where he and Gloria raised their family. He worked for the Tradewell Company and for Safeway Stores Inc. wearing many hats including category buyer and store manager. He retired in 1997. Rich enjoyed spending time with family at his vacation homes on Lake Wilderness in Maple Valley and at Copalis Beach, WA. He loved to travel and explore throughout the world. He also enjoyed making gourmet meals for family gatherings and shopping for bargains that he could share with others. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Mabel and brother Jim L. Money. Survivors include his beloved wife Gloria of Renton, WA; sons Jeff (Melanie) Money of Ellensburg, WA, Greg (Cathy) Money of Maple Valley, WA, Jim (Julie) Money of Boise, ID, Scott (Summar) Money of Portland, OR; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Association. Friends are invited to Memorial Services Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 1 pm at Edline-Yahn & Covington Funeral Chapel, 27221 156th Avenue SE, Kent, WA 98042 and to Graveside Services with Military Honors at 3 pm at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th Street, Kent.
