Robert Wayne Staples, resident of Kent, WA, passed away peacefully at his home, on May 24, 2018, at the age of 82. Bob was born on September 5, 1935 to Bessie and John Henry Staples in their family home. He went to Kent schools and graduated from Kent Meridian High School in 1954. At the age of 14, Bob had a perfect Old Ossie Score (punt, pass, and kick), and won a trip to the Rose Bowl, which included a meeting with Bing Crosby. He was also honored when the mayor declared, “Bob Staples Day,” in Kent. Bob married the love of his life, Phyllis Kruse, in 1957. They raised three children that all attended Kent Schools. Bob was a custom cabinet maker. He was a true artist of his trade and ran Staples Cabinet Shop until retirement. Bob and Phyllis were snowbirds in Yuma Arizona, where Bob enjoyed many years of sunshine and golf, including a hole-in-one. To his children, Bob was a quiet hero. He was kind and welcoming to friends, and always had good one-liner or perfect joke.
