Adrienne (Owens) Rockwell

Adrienne Rockwell

Age 90, of Auburn, WA (formerly of Kent, WA)  passed away peacefully at home on October 17, 2022 after a short battle with cancer.  Adrienne was born on April 9, 1932 and lived at 520 Meeker St. in Kent with her parents Jack (John) and Ruth Owens.  

She graduated from Kent Meridian High School in 1950 and worked at the National Bank of Washington for 16 years before she left to work for the Kent School District where she retired from in 1994.  She joined the Auburn YMCA so she could start swimming again and by 2000 was subbing as an instructor for the class.  She became certified and continued to teach deep water aerobics until 2020 when the pandemic closed the pool.  She taught 7 classes a week.  

Adrienne had a life of service.  She was a member of Soroptimist International for 31 years and served in all positions, including president.  The organization raised money over the years which was returned to the community for organizations that help women and children of domestic violence and traffic.  She was on the board of the Greater Kent Historical Board for many years and served as treasurer in the early years.  She was a member of the Lake Meridian Garden Club for over 30 years and also served as treasurer for most of those years.  

Adrienne rode horses and was a prolific reader. She was also a talented artist, creating many hand-painted dishware and figurines.  She loved beautiful things.  She was a member of the Rainier Audubon Society and enjoyed the beauty of birds.  

She is proceeded in death by her husband, Lynn Rockwell.  They were married for 47 years.  They lived on their 5 acre mini farm in the Kent - Covington area for 40 years until Lynn’s passing.  She spent the remainder of her time living in the Auburn Lakeland Hills area.  

She is Survived by her children Craig Rockwell (Myrna) and Shelley Coleman (DeLoy Dupuis); 3 grandchildren and 2 great grand children.

Services will be held at Edline - Yahn & Covington Funeral Chapel on November 4, 2022.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Greater Kent Historical Society, 855 E Smith St., Kent, WA 98030 or the American Lung Association.
