Barbara Lorraine Woods

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, sister and friend, Barbara Woods passed away peacefully on Saturday February 4, 2023

Barbara was born in Seattle on April 11, 1930, the first of two children. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 1948, the same year she married the love her life George Woods. They built a home in 1955 on the south end of Beacon Hill and lived there until they moved to Renton in 1976.

She is predeceased by her husband of 66 years George Woods, her parents Emil and Clara Hadley and her brother Robert.

Barbara is survived by her six children, Patricia Hash, Debra Lewis, Richard Woods (Karla), Lynn Woolum (Dave), Cheryl Hanson (Mike),  Christine Hoover (Doug), along with 12 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren, Diana Woods (Kenneth, Shauntika, Lahana), William “DeMarco” Powell  (Tania, Lanisa), Anitra Lewis (Amiracle), Richard “Michael” Woods Jr. (Riley), Lisa Halsted (Anniston, Brooklynn), Kadie Ensley, (Andrew),  Joshua Ott  (Noelle, Jonas, Bethany), Emily Kidd (Spencer), Christopher Nelson, Nicholas Nelson (Scarlet), Jessica Hoover (Leo) and Ryan Hoover.

Mom’s love of her family was always her highest priority and greatest joy; she loved to sing, dance, and enjoyed getting together with friends and Friday date nights with dad.  She also looked forward to her and George’s annual trips to Reno, a tradition that would carry over to her monthly get together with her cousins at the Muckleshoot Casino. Barbara also enjoyed her time being part of the Darling Dusters of St. Stephens and cherished those friendships.

Services will be held on Thursday, March 9th, beginning promptly at 11.00 am at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church, 13055 SE 192nd St. Renton, WA.  Following the service there will be a Celebration of Life and reception at the church.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Edline & Yahn Covington Funeral Chapel.
