Ernest Conwell Obituary

Mr. Ernest L. Conwell

On May 9th, 2021 in Renton, Washington Ernest Louie Conwell was Heaven Bound. Ernie was born February 16, 1929 in Bosler, Wyoming to Louie Gregory Conwell and Emma Audrey Rinehart. He was the youngest of six boys.  He lived on their Bosler ranch in the spring and summer where he would go on cattle drives and sheep runs with his father and brothers.  This is also where his mother, a frontier woman, taught him how to hunt and fish. In the winter they would live in Laramie, WY where his family had a general store and where he met his best friend, Vincent Corsberg.   In 1940, shortly after the passing of his mother, the family moved.  He helped drive a fully loaded model A truck as they followed his dad through the mountain passes to Renton, Washington.  In 1942 they moved to Kent, Washington.  Ernie went to Meridian Elementary, Meridian High school and graduated from Kent Meridian High school in 1949.  Meridian Elementary is where he met and fell in love with Alma Irene Dudley in the 5th grade.  Ernie and Alma were married June 14, 1947 and were married for 73 years and have 6 sons and 3 daughters. In 1950, Ernie and Alma built their current home in Kent, WA.   Ernie enjoyed sports and played football, basketball and baseball.  Ernie worked as a mechanic during high school and in 1951 he became a full-time employee of the Kent school district bus garage.  In 1991 he retired from the Kent school district as shop foreman with a fleet of 140 buses.   Ernie loved driving race cars at Evergreen Speedway. He raced with his sons in car number 72. This became his new career after retirement which he and his family enjoyed immensely. Ernie continued to love sports throughout his lifetime and his favorite moments were family gatherings.  He enjoyed sharing the gospel, working, teaching and driving for the church.

Ernie was a loving husband, father, Grandfather, Great grandfather and Great-Great Grandfather.  He was also a faithful friend and opened his home to many other children who would call him dad. His favorite Bible verse is John 14:6
