John MacVicar Thomas, born July 12, 19945, in Seattle, WA departed peacefully July 31, 2023, at the age of 78, from Alzheimer's. His journey was one of love, dedication, & an unwavering spirit of adventure.
John's life began in the embrace of his parents, Kathryn M. F. & "Ted" Llewellyn B. Thomas, growing up alongside his two older sisters, Nancy & Frances "Lynn." Their family found joy in gatherings at Lake Serene & Lake Washington, creating lasting memories. Education played a significant role in John's life, attending Roosevelt High School & Seattle College, before his employment at The Boeing Company. In 1968, he enlisted in the Navy. Serving honorably during the Vietnam War, he was a Data Processing Technician Petty Officer aboard the U.S.S. Ticonderoga & later "NAVMAC" in San Diego, California. Post-military (1972) John dedicated 30 years to King County Systems Services & Information Technology Department. In his retirement, he continued to spread joy, delivering flowers for Carol's Floral in Maple Valley.
John's passions were as diverse as they were numerous-gardening, cooking, carpentry, traveling, photography, hiking, boating, & various sports & making people laugh. Family held a special place in his heart, especially his beloved wife Teri, of 32 years, his children, and grandchildren.
John is survived by his loving wife, Teri; children, stepchildren, Kimberly, Danielle, Katie, Matt, & Sarah; Grandchildren, Virginia, Tyler, Alec, Jacob, Linken, Olivia, Olia, Evelyn, & Many other family & friends. May his life be a blessing in our memories & may he be at Peace.
