On March 13, 1944, Edward and Frances Ody welcomed their daughter, Judy, into their Cleveland, Ohio home. Judy grew up in Cleveland, where she attended school and became interested in the field of nursing. When she was in her twenties, Judy spent 4 and 1/2 years in the Panamanian Jungle, working as a nurse with the Cuna Indians. While there, she met the love of her life, Bruce Booker, and one year later they were married. Returning to the U.S. in 1972, they moved to Southern California where she earned her degree and continued nursing. While in California, Judy and Bruce were very involved with Youth Unlimited Gospel Outreach (YUGO) – which took students into Mexico for mission outreach trips. In the early 1980's she and Bruce moved to Covington, WA where they continued their community involvement, careers, and faithful service to the Lord. Their daughter, Stephanie, remembers Judy volunteering as her Girl Scout Leader and being active in the PTA. For the past 25 years, Judy was an active member of Wabash Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon. Judy loved the Lord and loved caring for others. She demonstrated her love for others through founding the Kiwanis Service Club of Covington, her nursing career, and her service as a Child Ambassador for World Vision. While volunteering with World Vision, she travelled twice to Swaziland to visit her sponsored children and promote World Vision's support of children and communities in need. Judy will be missed by her husband of 47 years, Bruce Booker; their daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Brad Richard; granddaughters, Jolene and Kyssandra; and many friends.
