Kenneth Horn Obituary

Kenneth John Horn, of Kent, Wa, loving husband, father and Papa, passed away on April 14,
2022 at the age of 73.


Ken was born on May 12, 1948 in Queens, NY to Jeanne and John Horn. He proudly served in
the U.S. Army. On September 6, 1969 he married Doreen Weaver Horn. In 1970 Ken began
his employment with the New York Telephone Company. In 1978 he transferred to Washington
state with Pacific Northwest Bell. He was President of Communications Workers of America
Local 7803 for 16 years. They raised two daughters, Laurie (Horn) Herbst and Susan (Horn)
Nickelson.


During Ken’s spare time he enjoyed backyard barbecues, working in his yard, planting his
garden, woodworking, setting up his Christmas village, cheering for the Seattle Mariners and
most of all spending time with his family and friends.


Ken was preceded in death by his father, John, his mother, Jeanne, and his sister, Janet. He is
survived by his wife of 52 ½ years, Doreen, his daughters Laurie Herbst (Gene), and Susan
Nickelson (Brett), granddaughter Madison Herbst (Creighton Wright), grandsons Carter
Nickelson (Sarah), William Nickelson (Taylor), Kendrick Herbst and Lukas Nickelson, sister
Peggy Bumgardner (Brad), brother Don Horn and many friends.


A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 8:30 am at St Barbara Catholic
Church 32416 Baker Street, Black Diamond, WA with an interment immediately following at
Tahoma National Cemetery. A reception will follow at the home of Laurie and Gene Herbst -
32425 Lynch Lane, Black Diamond, WA 98010.
