Leonard Woodford died May 28th 2023 at the Evergreen Hospice facility in Kirkland, WA, he was 82. He is survived by his son and daughter, David and Donna Woodford, his brother in law, Donald Boren, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon Woodford, who grew up in Washougal, WA, his sister in law, Judy Boren, also of Washougal, and his sister, Judy Knee, of Kelso, WA. He was born in Okanagan, Washington on May 12th 1941 at around midnight, and grew up in Skamania County, where he considered Carson home. He also lived in Vancouver, WA, Wenatchee, WA, Bremerton, WA, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Covington, WA, where he retired after almost 30 years of service with the Federal Government, working in Civil Service as an Electronics Tech for the US Navy at Keyport, repairing training targets, the US Army at Fort Carson, repairing avionics for helicopters, before finally retiring from the US Forest Service at North Bend, WA, where he worked for the Mount Baker/Snoqualmie and Olympic National Forests, repairing and maintaining radios. Prior to his time with the federal government, he worked in a number of different electronics jobs, working for Tektronics, working at a radio station, and a marine radar shop, all in the Portland area. He also worked as a refrigeration engineer at an apple shed in Wenatchee, and at the paper mill in Camas, WA. Prior to getting into electronics, he worked as a logger around Skamania County. He studied Electronics at Clark College in Vancouver, WA, although he did not earn a degree, where he met Sharon, to whom he was married for 51 years before she passed away. His hobbies included Ham Radio (under several call signs, his last call sign was K7DPT), Electronics, watching trains, Model Railroading, Model Airplanes, tractors, and history, in particular logging, railroad, and aviation history. He would talk to anyone and everyone, and enjoyed, to his son's constant annoyance, salmon berries when in season. He enjoyed music of all kinds, in particular, Scottish, Classical, Rock and Roll, and 60's Country music. He would occasionally tag along with his son while his son geocached. He was a life long Christian, and was a prominent member of Enumclaw Church of the Nazarene, where his departure to be with the Lord will be keenly felt, along with the Maple Valley Church of the Nazerene. He will be laid to rest at Carson, WA, next to Sharon. Donations can be sent to our Go Fund Me: https://gofund.me/22484ad3 David Woodford
