Norma Stage Kring of Medina, WA and more recently Federal Way passed away September 16th in Auburn from complications due to heart disease.  She was 89 years old.

Norma and her twin sister Naoma were born January 20, 1932 in Seattle, WA to Gerald and Katherine Stage.  She grew up in Omak and later Leavenworth, WA where she graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1950.  She received her BA from Central Washington College in 1954 with a degree in Education.  Her teaching career began at Prescott Elementary in the Parkrose area of Portland, OR.  Norma then moved to the Bellevue School district where she taught first and second grade at several schools including Ashwood, Wilburton, Sunset, and Cherry Crest.  Over the course of her career, she influenced hundreds of young minds and was known to be “the teacher that played the piano”.

On June 25, 1960, Norma married Roswell Morris Kring who worked for The Boeing Company as a finance manager.  They initially resided on Mercer Island before moving to Medina where she lived in the same house for 53 years.  In 2014, Norma moved Foundation House in Federal Way to be closer to her children.

Norma was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue and later Steel Lake Presbyterian Church in Federal Way.  She was active in various Masonic organizations including Rainbow for Girls, Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, and Amaranth.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband Roswell on December 29, 2009 and her twin sister Naoma Martin on October 6, 2016.  She is survived by her daughter Mary Hoefel (Mike) of Federal Way, son Warren Kring of Federal Way, and two grandchildren – Jennifer and Bradley Hoefel.

A private burial service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery where she will be placed beside her husband.   A memorial will be scheduled for a future date.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made in Norma’s name to Shriners Children’s Portland.
