Robert Jay Obituary

Robert Britton Jay (Bob), age 97, died on Tuesday, November 1, 2021, following a stroke at his home on Lake Lucerne, in Maple Valley, WA. Though born and raised in Seattle, Bob was a member of the lake community for 82 years. He served as a Marine in both World War II and the Korean War, before working in the Maintenance Department of the Seattle Public Library for 27 years.

He was predeceased by his father, Ralph Jay and mother, Gladys Bane Jay and by the love of his life, Lillian Perry Mitchell Jay. Survivors are his sister, Phyllis Stillwell from Covington, WA and his stepdaughter, Lisa Mitchell Irish from Middlefield, CT.

Bob was known for his love of the military and historical memorabilia. An excellent drummer, he was part of local musical groups as well as Pipe and Drum Bands for many years. His interest in travel took him around the world, and in later years, around to see many friends in the greater Seattle area.

Graveside services will be held at the Hobart Cemetery in Maple Valley on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at 11am. Military honors and bagpipe flourishes will be presented.
